Lluvia - Eternidad SolemneSince heartily digesting the excellent debut full-length, ‘Premonicion De Guerra’, I’ve come to learn that Lluvia is Spanish for rain. This is indeed apt as the follow-up album is essentially a morose, melancholic soundtrack featuring a gushing flood of grey rain and some stellar Black Metal too.

Eternidad Solemne’ is very melodic [chilling melodies], very atmospheric [sombre atmospheres], very dark [dark dark] and very good [fucking great]. All in all, this is a superb bleak, depressing record featuring 44 minutes of harrowing anguish and delightful subdued instrumentation.

You can’t go wrong with this. Actually, you can, because it’s sold out.

AD HOMINEM – ANTITHEIST LP (Osmose Productions)

Ad Hominem - AntitheistThere are eleven songs on Ad Hominem’s immense fifth full-length, plus an intro and an outro, clocking in at almost 53 minutes in total. Even having purchased most of Kaiser’s previous albums under this moniker, I must admit that ‘Antitheist’ has taken me by (pleasant) surprise.

While the prior efforts were good, this record is utterly excellent. Superb, catchy, well-written and expertly-executed Black Metal with a wonderful production and lyrics that are of course offensive (to many people who won’t be listening to Black Metal, so where’s the harm?) but also a lot of fun.

If you are looking to extreme music for moral or spiritual guidance then you are truly lost, never to be found.
