SEMPITERNAL DUSK / ENCOFFINATION – A MONUMENT TO THE ABYSS OF DEATH LP (End Theory Records ‎/ Parasitic Records)

Sempiternal Dusk Encoffination - A Monument To The Abyss Of DeathOn ‘A Monument To The Abyss Of Death’ each band spews forth one epic dirge of supreme underground Death Metal, totalling almost half an hour.

With their first stirring since the stunning self-titled debut full-length, Sempiternal Dusk contributes the immense ‘A Salacious Desire For Nothingness’, recorded in 2015/16, while Encoffination’s decrepit, putrefied decomposition, ‘Cemetery Of Earth’, laid down in 2015, represents their first recording since ‘III: Hear Me, O’ Death (Sing Thou Wretched Choirs’.

Two bands I love (to death) so this split was a funereal no-brainer. Lower the casket and cover it in clay. All things must end.

SEMPITERNAL DUSK – SEMPITERNAL DUSK LP (Dark Descent Records)

Sempiternal Dusk - Sempiternal DuskSempiternal Dusk’s self-titled debut album comprises 46 minutes of exceptional Death Metal – four epic songs and a short outro of horrific, creepy fare with a genuinely disturbing vibe. ‘Sempiternal Dusk’ is one of my favourite recent vinyl releases and the record is brilliantly presented by a label that can do little wrong right now (the aptly-named Horrendous aside).

If you are in the market for some fresh and crushing, mid-paced Death Metal with dollops of atmosphere, look no further. Now, bring on the long-awaited Swallowed LP…
